About WCAG Standards
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define contrast ratios to make sure text and interface elements are readable by people with visual impairments, including colour blindness and low vision.
- Level AA: the minimum standard for web accessibility, and the one most commonly required.
- Level AAA: an enhanced standard for maximum readability.
- Large text: 18pt (24px) or larger, or 14pt (18.5px) bold or larger.
- Normal text: anything smaller than the large text thresholds.
This tool is designed to help you quickly check colour contrast and readability. It follows general accessibility principles but is not a substitute for official WCAG compliance testing.
